Meridian Convention Center hopes to encourage more North Carolina residents interested in traditional African weddings to utilize its 40,000 square feet of event space. As one of its team members explains, "We have done many events for the Nigerian and Yemenese communities."
Featuring six unique ballrooms, the Meridian Convention Center gives you the opportunity to host each step of your wedding in the same, easily accessible space.
Your traditional African wedding ceremony could be hosted, for example, in the Meridian's Madrid or Valencia Ballrooms, both of which feature ambient lighting, elegant decor, and can comfortably accommodate up to 250 people. Want a huge reception party? The Barcelona Ballroom, the largest of the spaces, is designed for up to 600 people.
All bookings at the Meridian come with the option of adding in-house services. Among these services are planning, set-up, decorating, and catering done by the center's team of experienced professionals. If you'd prefer, you can also bring your own chef or catering company to utilize the center's kitchen space.
Live music, traditional or otherwise, can easily be accommodated for your wedding ceremonies or receptions. Many of Meridian's ballrooms include stages and dance floors. The Barcelona Ballroom also features special acoustic tiles to ensure the best sound quality.
Meridian Convention Center encourages you to contact its team to schedule an in-person tour of the space and discuss the details of your event.
Greensboro's Meridian Convention Center was erected in 1974, originally called Royal Villa, then Heritage House, and featured Spanish Mediterranean-style architecture. The Meridian was recently renovated to meet modern standards but maintains its antique charm, with much of the original flourishes and design in place. Along with weddings, the space can accommodate business functions, community events, and smaller parties.
