Mar 8, 2024

Looking for the perfect gift for the graffiti lover in your life? This T-shirt range from Sarah James Jazz Merch will make you their biggest fan!

A quick stroll around New York, and you're sure to find some inspiring street art. But the trouble is, even the best pieces are quickly covered up or washed away. That's why Sarah James, a local NYC musician and photographer, is capturing the best pieces and showcasing them through her clothing line at Sarah James Jazz Merch. One of the most inspiring is the ‘We Rise By Lifting Others’ design, based on a mural she discovered in the Lower East Side in Manhattan.

Graffiti designs for every occasion

The long-sleeved T-shirts - all printed, made, and shipped from within the US - are made from 100% pre-shrunk cotton and come in a range of colors, and each is a limited edition, made-to-order item, with orders delivered within 7-12 days. The ‘We Rise By Lifting Others’ design is set against a colorful background, featuring a pink elephant above the words ‘New York City’ in white text.

Sarah explains that she enjoys taking early morning walks through the streets of New York and documenting the graffiti before it's washed away or covered by the sanitization department or other artists' tags. “So far I have about 20 images that I photographed in NYC, mostly on the Lower East Side,” she says. “Each image tells a story, is edgy, and most of them are no longer where they were photographed.”

The NYC Graffiti collection also includes other noteworthy pieces, such as Money Eyes Man, which explores the complex relationship between wealth and time, and Blue Moon Girl, a celebration of defiance and courage that Sarah found on the side of a large newspaper dispenser.
