The recently launched device allows homeowners, building owners, and contractors to work safely on standing seam roofs without penetrating the panels.
The term ‘standing seam’ is used to describe a type of metal roof in which adjacent sheets are joined by raising up the edges and then folding them in a variety of ways. This method of roofing creates a series of vertical legs with broad flat areas in-between.
Fall Protection Distributors’ newly launched standing seam roof anchor consists of a solid 6061-T6 aluminum body that is clamped to a standing seam using 12 stainless steel set screws. All components used are salt-spray tested and non-corrosive.
The anchor is certified by both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to 5,000lbs of pull force. Weighing only 4.5lbs, it is the lightest standing seam anchor in the world to receive this certification.
Testing for 5,000lbs certification included pull forces in all directions, meaning that a single anchor can be used for a variety of purposes. For example, a person working on one side of a roof can use an anchor on the opposite side without needing to reposition it.
Utilizing a patented universal-fit design, the new anchor works on over 500 standing seam profiles with no reassembly required.
The anchor comes with an interchangeable mount, allowing it to be used with fall protection equipment from a variety of manufacturers. In addition, it can be used for the attachment of roof jacks, walk boards, horizontal lifelines, and ladder anchoring.
When attached, the anchor presents a clean and low profile that reduces tripping hazards and provides a more aesthetically pleasing appearance for permanent installations.
