The T-RAK Bike Rack has officially launched its Kickstarter campaign, seeking early backers for the innovative high-capacity bicycle cargo system, to coincide with Earth Day 2018.

T-RAK Bike Rack Founder and Creator John Vitanza says that he culled inspiration from his father when designing the cargo system for bicycles. “My father was a fixer and a problem solver. As his health deteriorated he was no longer able to drive but needed to be able to transport items while riding his bike. He developed the prototype for T-RAK Bike Racks,” Vitanza said.

Before his father’s passing, Vitanza says the vision for what would become T-RAK Bike Rack was laid clear before him. In addition to providing ecological benefits, the rack had to hold a lot of cargo, but it also had to be easy to use. “The T-RAK platform is a simple attachment that allows you to mix and match custom accessories to meet your cargo needs. Deploy the retractable side skirting to keep grocery bags clear of the rear, use the bungee net to tie down loose items, or simply clip on the utility box and throw everything in,” reads the Kickstarter campaign.

The core of the T-RAK system is the strong, lightweight platform complete with aluminum reinforcement to ensure stability. The platform also houses the T-Post and retractable side skirting as well as offering simple attachment for the Utility Box or Bungee Net.

Features of the versatile, high capacity T-RAK Bike Cargo System include:

• Sturdy, Lightweight Platform for portable storage

• Cargo Net for safe transport of items

• Eco-Friendly Canvas shopping bags

• Utility Box for holding items

• Side Skirting to protect item from rear tires

• Saddle/Shoulder Bag for transporting school work, or office work

• Insulated Cooler for transporting groceries

Weight capacity tests performed using the T-RAK Bike Cargo System have successfully held 48 pounds, on an 8-mile ride. “One of the reasons many people drive rather than bike, is due to their inability to complete their daily or weekend errands without their car,” Vitanza said. “So, we aimed for less car, more cargo while developing it.”

“We’re proud that the T-RAK Bike Rack provides an economical and ecological alternative to driving. We are providing a bicycle cargo system which allows riders to carry masses of cargo without deterioration in control or comfort. The T-RAK Bike Cargo system is incredibly easy to use, and it is a lot more efficient than pulling a bike trailer behind you, while riding. Plus, you’re burning calories, not carbon,” Vitanza said.

The T-RAK Bike Cargo System’s Kickstarter Campaign will run through May 26, 2018, with an initial backing goal of $75,000.

“I saw firsthand, as the independence of biking restored my father’s happiness, after he could no longer drive. I love that we started this business together, with the goal of spreading this exceptionally versatile bicycle cargo rack to as many people as we could. My dad was my inspiration, and now I’m inspired to make cycling an even more viable alternative to automotive transport. I hope to bring this system to life to help people on a personal level, while doing my part to help the environment on a global level,” Vitanza added.
