Helping others realize they’re not alone in their out-of-the-box thinking style and removing the feeling of “otherness” has become my personal mission.

Hi, I’m Nadine Schumont, a licensed Davis® Facilitator, and a passionate advocate for Neurodiversity Awareness. In 2019, I started Picture Perfect Learning Solutions, a company that helps clients gain the tools and skills they need to open up a whole world of learning and success. Picture Perfect Learning Solutions is a provider of the Davis® Dyslexia Correction Program, which is the most widely used program across the globe.

Stratford-Based Neurodiversity Advocate Makes Waves in her Community and Beyond

Hi, I'm Nadine Schumont, a licensed Davis Facilitator, a dyslexic specialist, and a passionate advocate for Neurodiversity Awareness.

Approximately 1 in every 5 people has a different learning style and may be affected by dyslexia, but I want the world to know that this is a gift, not a challenge we need to struggle with all our lives.

With the Davis Method in more than 40 countries, clients with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD and other diagnoses under the neurodiverse umbrella, have turned their learning disability into a learning ABILITY. The simplicity behind this method is that it takes the inherent visual-spatial talents of neurodiverse learners and uses creative learning techniques to mitigate disorientation. This results in an effective, drug-free solution that meets clients where they are and provides the tools for further learning. This specially designed program is 30 hours long, but the tools and knowledge last a lifetime.

I have made it my personal mission to help others avoid the same frustrations and feelings of “otherness” that plagued me throughout much of my life.

I grew up struggling with undiagnosed ADHD and dyslexia, as a diagnosis was difficult to come by in the 1970s. I was a busy multi-tasker who found it difficult to “sit still and pay attention”. As a young child and through most of my adulthood, my 'normal’ was a challenge compared to others. Like many others, I grew up in a school system that was not set up for students with different learning styles and needs. As a student who experienced the world differently than my peers, I was left feeling like an outsider.

Since then, I have been able to discover that my ADHD and dyslexia are my gifts, rather than my shortcomings, and I want to help others have that same moment of discovery. It is my goal to offer my personal experience combined with my new understanding from The Davis Dyslexia Correction program to students and families. My hope is that they will find acceptance, gain confidence, and develop the skills to embrace their learning abilities.

As a Davis facilitator, I offer the one-on-one Davis Dyslexia Correction Program, the Reading Program for Younger Learners, the Attention Mastery Program, and the Math Mastery Program.

Throughout the year, a 6-week workshop series based on the book, Why Tyrannosaurus But Not If, is available to parents, tutors, teachers, and other leaders in our community who would love to have the skills to support the students in their life. There is even a free online version of this material available on her website to those who are interested. The aim is to make these resources accessible so we can successfully support the neurodiverse learner.

Based on the growing need in her community, Nadine has branched out from the one-on-one Davis® programs and is now hosting an interactive and academic Hands-On Learning Pod at the PPLS Resource Centre. The students range from grades two-six and meet for two full days a week of learning that is interactive and complements their homeschool studies.

Another way I am spreading awareness is through my ongoing, free public talks that highlight my story, how the Davis program profoundly changed my life, and the ways this method can benefit others on a similar journey.

In just three years of business, I have grown my offerings far beyond the one-on-one programs, but that remains the core of my mission and way to impact the world around me. I have had the opportunity to travel to the Bahamas this year for a Young Learners Program, worked with clients online internationally, and have welcomed dozens of clients to my in-person sessions since opening my doors in 2019.
