The new book for real estate developers, “Yes Vote: The Public Hearing Plan for Developers” outlines a proven strategy that helps developers overcome opposition.

When opponents malign a developer and his project, there is often a concern that their actions will affect the project’s chances oft getting approval. Decision makers - city council member, planning commissioners, etc. do not like to approve projects that do not have visible support.

Real estate developers can take concrete steps to prepare for their public hearings. The strategy and tactics outline in detail in Yes Vote will get a project approved.

Katie Coates, author, speaker and coach has worked with developers for more than 20 years and has helped clients get approval at dozens of public hearings at the city council and planning commission level, as well as at regional and state agencies.

“In working with clients to get a Yes Vote at their public hearings, I’ve discovered a secret,” Katie says. “Developers are willing to make a huge financial investment in the communities where they propose their projects. If they are also willing to make a personal investment in the organizations that provide charity to their city, town or village, and they make a concerted effort to establish deep, personal relationships with leaders from these organizations, they triple or quadruple their chances of getting their projects approved.”

She also says that if developers follow her prescription, which she outlines in detail in her book, they have a greater than 95 percent chance of getting approval at their public hearings.

Katie helps her clients achieve success by finding supporters, overcoming opposition, and communicating with decision makers.
