New Shark Finning Report Shows Why We Should Fight To Preserve Marine Ecosystems

Apr 27, 2024

If you care about marine life or the ethical treatment of animals, Ever Wonder Adventure’s 2024 report on shark finning should infuriate you! Join the organization’s fight to end this inhumane practice worldwide.

The indiscriminate killing of sharks for their fins and the cruel methods by which it is done are grounds for legal intervention. As an organization dedicated to environmental guardianship, Ever Wonder Adventure denounces shark finning in a new report for its “Save The Sharks” campaign, calling for strict laws and regulations to ban the trade worldwide.

How Shark Finning Negatively Impacts The Marine Ecosystem

Ever Wonder Adventure is committed to preserving Earth's natural wonders for future generations. Because of this, shark finning goes against everything the organization believes in.

For its anti-shark finning campaign, the organization works to garner public support, spreading awareness of the negative impact the practice has on other aquatic life and the marine ecosystem as a whole.

According to the international non-profit Shark Stewards, as of 2023, shark fishing kills an estimated 86 million or more sharks globally every year, with 80% attributed to the fin trade. In spite of these unfathomable numbers, Ever Wonder Adventure continues to use its platform to oppose shark fin consumption in the food industry.

The Brutality Of Shark Finning

In its 2024 report, Ever Wonder Adventure emphasizes the brutality of shark finning, an unethical process that involves cutting out a shark's fins and throwing the maimed animal back into the sea where they either die slowly and painfully of suffocation or are eaten by other predators.

The report discusses the ecological role sharks play as apex predators and marine ecosystem regulators, detailing the environmental consequences that occur as a result of their decreasing population, including the disruption of food chains, devastation of coral reefs, and loss of biodiversity.

Illuminating the global struggle to protect the species, the report features quotes from world renowned shark conservationists such as Dr. Sylvia Earle, the first woman to lead the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, and the late Dr. Samuel H. Gruber, a professor at the Rosenstiel School for Marine and Atmospheric Science in the University of Miami.

Restore The Balance Between Humanity And Nature

Ever Wonder Adventure is on a mission to restore the balance between humanity and nature, working to repair the severe environmental damage caused by industrialization, deforestation, and other unsustainable practices. In its fight against shark finning, the organization believes in the power of collective action and urges you to support its cause no matter where you are in the world.

“It is our responsibility to protect these magnificent creatures and preserve marine ecological balance for the sake of our planet's future. Together, let us embrace a future where the use of shark fins as a delicacy becomes nothing more than a shameful relic of the past,” said a spokesperson for the organization.
