Experts believe that the average adult makes more than 35,000 decisions per day. Broken down, that’s around 1,400 decisions per hour and 24 decisions per minute.

That’s a lot of thoughts every day! So, it’s no wonder that you can get tired by nighttime. This phenomenon, called decision fatigue, can be causing you a lot of stress and anxiety – and honestly, who can blame you?

But it doesn’t always have to be this way.

Now, hear us out here, but one of the best ways to relieve decision fatigue is to develop daily habits. Among those 35,000 decisions, more than half are made automatically. This includes whether to brush your teeth or to get out of bed each day. What are considered as “decisions” are actually habits – which can help with other, more complex decisions such as working out or eating healthier.

Research proves the value of habits in reducing stress. You, for example, can experience decision fatigue when deciding whether to work out for the day or not. However, if working out becomes a habit, then you remove the stress of decision-making and benefit from the exercise as well.

Developing a habit takes an average of 66 days. Though difficult at first, creating a habit makes the decision-making process easier. This allows you more headspace for more important aspects of your life.
