Maryland Nursing Support Agency For Children With Developmental Disabilities

Your child with disability needs special care. If they have been diagnosed with a developmental disability, you need a trained nurse to help them build a practical and realistic daily routine. A developmental disability nurse helps teach you how to best manage your child’s condition to improve their quality of life.

Trust only the best. Trust only CHES.

Community Health and Education Services (CHES) offers specialized nursing support services in Maryland for individuals with Cerebral Palsy, spina bifida, and those on the autism spectrum.

With recent studies suggesting that 1 in 6 children between the ages of 3 to 17 in the United States have a developmental disability, CHES says that its services help those children thrive in their lives. The team works with the client's Primary Care Provider to design a customized plan of care that supports daily activities, events, and all other childhood moments.

As part of its DDA nursing support services, the group provides nursing consultations and nursing case management and delegation solutions, all available to Self-Directed Services (SDS) members. The team's goal is to build comprehensive care strategies that can make a positive impact on a community’s health through compassionate care for people with disabilities.

CHES uses the Health Risk Screening Tool (HRST) to identify or review your child’s health care level. The group also drafts healthcare protocols and develops regimes, establishes effective ways for communication with healthcare providers, and finds health-related resources available in your community.

In addition, its team of licensed professionals makes nursing and self-administration assessments and oversees the training and work of the staff authorized to implement the tasks detailed in your child's care plan.

Have an older child in need of help? No problem. CHES also provides personal care services for older children. The nurses can assist clients with everyday tasks such as eating, bathing, or light housework. They may also do meal planning, feeding assistance, laundry, medication reminders, and assistance with walking and mobility.

Please feel free to contact the group to see how they can help your child today! Additional services may be requested, as needed.

All care programs are reviewed regularly to ensure that treatment plans are aligned with individual needs. The goal of every service is to allow clients to live as independently as possible with the highest quality of life.

All CHES staff meet the State of Maryland’s nursing requirements. They are continually trained to improve their skills and continue serving others with compassion and competency.

The group provides care for clients in Montgomery County and Prince George’s County.

A spokesperson for the group said, "Because CHES provides the highest level of care, we only hire personal care assistants (PCA) who exemplify compassion and empathy. Then we match them with clients based on personality and lifestyle, so you get a PCA that’s right for you."
