Nov 14, 2023

Are you a prostate cancer survivor or the caretaker of one? Check out PROSTAID Calgary’s (403-455-1916) monthly meeting on November 15th at 7:30 p.m., where you can share your experiences and knowledge with others. The meeting is free and requires no advance registration.

If you’re curious about the latest prostate cancer research and treatments, you won’t want to miss PROSTAID Calgary’s monthly meeting for November!

Its featured speakers will be discussing exactly that topic as it concerns the Prostate Cancer Centre, a world-class medical centre devoted to discovering prostate cancer treatments and cures.

The November meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 15th at 7:30 p.m. at the CKE Community Centre. PROSTAID Calgary's monthly public awareness and support meetings offer care and assistance to survivor warriors and their wives and caregivers along their healing journeys. Every meeting features a talk on pre-selected topics from health specialists in the field of prostate cancer research.

At November's general meeting, you'll hear talks by two leaders of the Prostate Cancer Centre about the Centre’s most recent work on the early detection of the disease and its services for patients and their families.

One of these services is PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) blood testing to detect prostate cancer in its early stages. One of the meeting’s featured speakers is significantly involved in the Prostate Cancer Centre’s pioneering mobile men’s health clinic, known as the MAN VAN, which offers free PSA blood tests.

A major theme of the meeting will be the importance of taking advantage of free or low-cost diagnostic methods like PSA blood tests. The featured speakers would like to remind warriors that it's important to take responsibility in ministering to their personal health needs through services like those offered by the MAN VAN.

If you'd like to receive a PSA blood test at the MAN VAN, you won't need to schedule an appointment in advance, and the test will take you only 15 minutes to complete. If you score high on your test, a staff member will follow up with you about the next steps and will ensure you have access to the appropriate resources.

About PROSTAID Calgary

PROSTAID Calgary has been serving prostate cancer warriors and their caretakers in Calgary and surrounding areas since 1993 through its monthly meetings, website, and journal, “The Digital Examiner.” The monthly meetings are a great learning opportunity, as they always highlight the work of well-respected local health specialists in prostate cancer research.

“Our objective is to assist and support patients, families, and friends by informing, empathizing, and reassuring men on their journey with prostate cancer,” a spokesperson for PROSTAID Calgary said. “By sharing our experiences with our own cancer, we lift our spirits and strengthen our resolve to fight for quality of life and a cure.”

RSVPing is helpful to let the event organizers arrange in advance for the expected number of attendees, but it isn't necessary. All attendees, with or without an RSVP, will be warmly welcomed!
