Nigeria may be one of Africa's fastest-growing economies, but the country still reels under the devastating effects of poverty. The World Bank and the Nigerian Living Standards Survey report that about 40 percent of Nigeria's population—approximately 83 million people live below the poverty line. More than 70 percent of the country's children live in extreme poverty, with 23 percent living in extreme poverty. You can make a difference in a child's life today by supporting programs by Toria Rock, a Maryland-based NGO that works directly with Nigeria's children and youth.

The Silver Springs, MD nonprofit for children has launched the charity fundraiser in aid of marginalized Nigerian children who live in areas that are hard to reach. The organization's goal is to facilitate positive changes in the lives of the most destitute and neglected children.

Toria Rock seeks to protect the fundamental rights of children living in Nigeria's streets and improve their access to food, education, health, water, sanitation, and shelter. The nonprofit runs multiple fundraising campaigns to meet these needs and provides children with safe spaces for learning, creative arts, sports, meals, and counseling.
