Health insurance in Arlington will Have Subsidies Increased by ARPA Legislation

The Arlington health insurance exchange with subsidies under President Obama's health care law would see a total of 4.8 million more people signing up for coverage each year, according to a recent study by the non-profit CBO that analyzed how this proposal could affect different populations, including sign ups and losses in private healthcare plans.

Rick Thornton, an Arlington health insurance agent , say that agents recognize that Democrats in the Senate are trying to pass a two-year extension of Insurance subsidies that were originally passed by American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) for coverage years 2021 and 2022. These increased premium assistance payments helped make sure some low-income customers didn't pay anything out pocket when it comes their insurance premiums.

The bipartisan CBO projects that making the subsidies permanent would lead to an increase in ACA coverage by 4.8 million people. They expect the overall enrollment on exchanges to see a 5-2 margin decline, depending on the financial assistance from government programs like Medicaid. Individuals without such support may show less movement than before due this factor alone!

The agency also believes there will be declines in other sources of insurance. For example, it projects a 2 million decrease for employer sponsored health care and a 500K drop from non-group coverage purchased outside the ACA exchanges

CBO explains that this is due primarily because more people are eligible under government programs like Medicaid or CHIP which offer free access with limited benefits packages but can still provide protection against major medical expenses.
