Significant efforts are underway to provide more affordable housing to Denver residents, and a new in-depth guide from Denver Deals highlights just a few of those initiatives.

A new guide from local business directory Denver Deals explains some of the government initiatives that are currently in play, and will hopefully have a positive impact in 2025.

According to recent reporting from the Metro Denver Homelessness Initiative, a record number of people experienced homelessness in the city last year, with the most significant increase being among families. Despite the concerning numbers, several projects and initiatives are planned for 2025, which you can learn about in Denver Deals’ new guide.
The 2025 Agency Plan from the Denver Housing Authority (DHA) calls for upgrades to existing public housing developments, along with the construction of several new mixed-income sites. While timescales for these developments are not yet available, Denver Deals states that they will offer much greater housing diversity to Denver residents.
Similarly, Denver City’s Expanding Housing Affordability policy promotes the construction of more affordable units, or provides residents with a subsidy if there aren’t enough. The program was first passed in 2022, with plans for it to continue throughout the next 12 months.
Finally, an affordable housing funding initiative from Mayor Mike Johnston aims to generate approximately $100 million annually. If approved, the fund would contribute to the construction and preservation of homes for lower- and middle-income families across the city.
