March 15, 2024, will be a night of Afrobeat at the Flamingo Cantina in Austin, Texas. For the upcoming SXSW Afrobeats Showcase, Nigerian-American singer-songwriter DeanKelly will light up the stage alongside breakout Afrobeat stars like DOM, Bisa Kdei, and Yung D3mz.

For his upcoming performance, DeanKelly seeks to represent the versatility of this Nigerian music genre, bringing his unique blend of Afrobeat, R&B, funk, and highlife to the Flamingo Cantina stage.

SXSW Showcases involve performing at one of Austin’s renowned live music venues in front of industry representatives, media members, fans, and fellow musicians. In light of Afrobeat's increasing popularity in the United States, SXSW has dedicated a number of showcases to the genre, featuring the future stars of the Afrobeat music scene.

A Must-See Live Performance

At the SXSW Afrobeats Showcase, DeanKelly will perform at 10.45 pm, a 25-minute set, featuring his most popular singles, from Loyal to Ginika. DeanKelly promises audiences an electrifying show that reflects the vibrant rhythms and soulful melodies of his music.

Since 1991, the Flamingo Cantina has been one of Austin's premier live music venues, showcasing thousands of artists from a wide range of genres, including reggae, ska, Latin, rock, hip-hop, alternative and more.

On March 15, Afrobeat fans at the Flamingo Cantina will experience a night of high-energy music from some of the genre’s best emerging talents.

A New Rising Star

Dean Kelechi Nwokocha, known by his stage name DeanKelly, is an up-and-coming Afrobeat artist currently based in Houston. Born in Newark to Nigerian parents, DeanKelly grew up to the sounds of 2Baba, Paulson Kalu, Osita Osadebe, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, and other popular artists. Influenced by different cultures and a diverse array of musical genres, DeanKelly continues to experiment with the boundaries of music, fusing different rhythms and melodies together to create his own original sound.
