As schools become increasingly hazardous environments for students and teachers alike, the NSCA training program is designed to equip you with the counseling skills necessary to serve the growing spiritual needs of PK-12 students, school staff, and local families in your area.

Recent studies published by Staffordshire University examine the link between chaplain care and levels of social responsibility in students, showing that the presence of school chaplains can help students develop a stronger personal and collective ethos. In other words - chaplains help change students' minds and hearts!

While contributing to greater student awareness, the NSCA training program also focuses on training chaplains to support school staff and take pressure off over-worked teachers and mental health professionals. “Hiring a chaplain at your school directly impacts the lives of students, staff, educators, and communities through increased school safety, better teacher retention, and enhanced mental health support,” says a spokesperson. “With a chaplain on board, you’ll spend less money on employee training, see higher productivity, and give students an opportunity to receive confidential, non-judgmental support.”

When you complete the NSCA training curriculum, you'll get qualifications that are in line with national standards, as well as continued education training and support, and inclusion on the national school chaplain registry.

Alongside counseling skills and an approach to spirituality that accounts for diverse student populations and varied religious backgrounds, you'll also get three key safety certifications: Active Shooter, Threat Assessment, and Stop the Bleed.

As a certified school chaplain, you will be able to serve the needs of any size of school or district. In addition to offering counseling for students, you're also trained to make personal contact with each school team member on a weekly basis to provide ongoing care and encouragement.

The NSCA program is online and offers rolling enrollment, so you can start it at any time of year. It is accredited through Oral Roberts University and can be completed in as little as 8 weeks.

Start making a difference to students and educators in your local school district now!
