This is the first book Morie has authored. The book was written to provide breadcrumbs in the family history for the next generation. The aim being to share the love and memories that have been passed on to her. She says she is very excited for the book to be out to share and encourage others to document treasured stories and memories to pass on. Morie wishes she had asked more questions when younger as so many now will remain unanswered. The research completed during this project let her see her grandparents through adult eyes and with even greater appreciation. .

The author is an accidental cook, avid community volunteer and 2nd Generation Canadian.. This helped shaped the creation of the book which documents a precious part of her childhood and to share beloved recipes with others.. .

When asked about why they wrote the book, Morie said: "The more information learned as an adult about my grandparents coming to Canada, the more important it was to write a little bit to add to their legacy.” “Lebanese Soul Cooking was a way to share the passion for this food and the love that she remembers.”

Morie hopes that this book highlights how much can be learned about people through their food and a reminder to focus on our similarities rather than differences. This positive outlook from the author is certainly testament to their optimism found during its creation. There were several unexpected discoveries in the writing of this book. The result is through the miracle of the internet, finding family and new friends in the village in Lebanon where her grandfather was born, cousins from families that lost touch that are scattered around the globe and that it is a small but wonderful world..
