Nano Hearing Aids, a maker of over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids for perceived mild to moderate hearing loss, has announced that they have designed a new portable dehumidifying charging case which aims to extend the lifespan of their aids.
Ryan F. Zackon, the recently appointed CEO of Nano Hearing Aids, has announced that the OTC hearing aid company is piloting a new built-in dehumidifier in the portable, magnetic charging case of one of their new models: their First Ear Plus ITE aids.

Under Mr. Zackon’s recent stewardship, the OTC hearing aid makers have been investing more in sustainable initiatives which are designed to extend the lifespan of their devices.
They have recognized that the majority of both OTC and prescription hearing aids last between three and five years, with some lasting as little as two before wearers begin to complain of hearing quality loss; something Nano believes is both wasteful and excessively expensive.
As such, with their new pilot dehumidifying case, they are attempting to reduce the impact of one of the most common causes of hearing aid damage: humidity. While some hearing aid brands retail dehumidifying containers, these are separate (often costly) cases which typically need to be plugged in to operate and are not sized or designed for on-the-go use. Thus, Nano believes they are the first to develop portable built-in dehumidifying technology.
Their research and development team has seen that by offering dehumidifying benefits every time the aids are recharged, the negative impact of daily moisture exposure can be almost entirely negated; without the need for users to invest in more costly equipment or to conduct a rigorous care regimen.
As Ryan F. Zackon explained, “The case’s built-in dehumidifier protects the First Ear Plus ITE Hearing Aids from moisture, prolonging their life and ensuring optimal performance.”
As a further sustainability initiative, Nano Hearing Aids has announced that they are now selling accessory kits for their full range of OTC hearing aids, including for their First Ear Plus ITE aids. These new kits feature daily use and maintenance add-ons—like different sized ear domes, model-specific cleaning brushes and wax guards—which are designed to improve the fit and comfort of the aids and protect their inner workings. Therefore, enhancing the sound quality their aids offer and how long they last for.
