As an IM, EAU facilitates the generation and sale of these RECs by verifying the production of your array so that these numbers can be uploaded to the national database. From there, your energy production numbers are bundled into RECs that can be sold by brokers.
Utilities are required to buy these RECs to prove their compliance with sustainability standards and avoid penalties. Once the RECs are sold, brokers distribute the sale back to you based on the percentage of the full megawatt-hour of the REC generated by your solar array.
The entire system is designed to incentivize your independent renewable energy production, which is why contributing to and profiting from RECs requires you to do nothing more than verify the energy production of your already existing solar arrays through an IM.
