Maryland Artist, Derek Forreal, is The Next Big Thing

Nov 17, 2020

Maryland artist, David ‘Forreal’ Freels is the next big thing! He strives to make his music the best it can possibly be.

Derek 'Forreal ' Freels has today been recognized for rapping, free styling, and much creativity. Derek has the ability to attack every song differently than the one before. He tries to make every piece of work better than the last. When he doesn't succeed at this, it only pushes him harder.. This recognition is, in part, a result of Freels's work within the Music arena, specifically his work of approaching every song with a lot of raw passion and intensity. His overall mindset is to prove himself, not only to others but to himself as well. Many times in his life he has been counted out due to a lot of circumstances. Whether it was his battles with drugs and alcohol, homelessness, or simply low points in his life. He has made the fire in his body even strong toward never giving up, learning from mistakes, and pushing himself to where he wants to be..

Freels, a native of Maryland, has been involved with the Music world for around 12 years. Derek started rapping at 13, and he is currently 25. He didn't make his first song until he was 19, but has started taking his music seriously for the past year and a half., getting his start when he started free styling in his car with his friend, Richard. Richard was then mind blown asking why he hadn't furthered his music career and started to develop it. He knew that Derek could get somewhere with music. He showed others his freestyles, and their push and excitement really made him believe he could do this. So he dove in!. In response to a question on the driving force behind his success, Freels has explained how it really boiled down to the fact that he has been through a lot, and he's finally giving himself a chance at living a life he's always wanted to live, but was too scared to go after..

Reflecting on the recognition Freels is quoted as saying: "If people aren't laughing at your dreams, then they aren't big enough."

In a recent one-to-one interview, Freels reminisced on other past achievements, which helped build momentum towards the present day. Notably, one of the proudest was being on the Sway in The Morning show on 11/13/20. They then interviewed him and played one of his songs (Aggressive Expansion) to the listeners and received nothing but positive feedback and much self fulfillment..

In the same interview, Freels stated his intentions for the future. The primary goal for the next 12 months, Freels states, will be doing arguably the best five fingers of death on life radio, a lyrical lemonade music video, as well as dropping his first album.. Looking farther ahead, the aim is to be signed to a label, and consistently making higher quality music year in, year out. He has been in contact with a few labels and has already received a couple of offers. He had to sit down and think about, but something didn't sit right with him so he declined them. He knows that when the time is right, everything will fall into place..

When asked more personally about how they want to be perceived and remembered, Freels said: "I plan to really leave my mark on the music industry, and show people it doesn't matter what situation you come from. Everything is temporary, and with determination you can really do whatever you want."

Freels closed the interview by sharing his recommendation for anybody who wanted to follow in his footsteps in some fashion, perhaps taking the achievements even further. According to Derek Freels, the key is consistency. Even on off days, do something to better yourself. On the days you're not doing anything, someone with the same goals is..
