The Phlebotomy Workshop offered by CCHAP is suitable for nurses, lab technicians and assistants, emergency medical technicians, as well as undergraduate students and international medical graduates.

The one-day 5-hour workshop takes place on weekends and is led by a certified experienced instructor. The small group size allows you to ask questions and receive the instructor’s individual attention.

Upon learning the physiology and anatomy of veins and arteries, you will be taught to use venipuncture equipment and vacuumed blood collection systems in a practical setting. You will also learn the steps for safe specimen handling and the associated administrative steps.

As phlebotomy specialists work directly with patients, the training will also cover various aspects of patient interaction, including legal and ethical issues. You will learn to prepare a patient for a blood draw, verify their identity and handle lab requisition forms, explain the process, keep them calm, and assist them in case of an adverse reaction.

If you successfully complete the workshop, you will get a certificate from the CCHAP. The best students will get recommendation letters. The workshop is recognized by the Canadian Phlebotomy Technician Group Inc. and other health facilities across Ontario.

The CCHAP offers 6 to 9-month vocational programs for post-secondary students and short-term skills training workshops. Other available workshops you can participate in include Clinical Research Essentials, Pharmacovigilance, Electrocardiography, Intramuscular Injection, Nasopharyngeal Swab Collection, Electronic Medical Records & OHIP, and more.

A satisfied client said: “The courses offered are practical and applicable to the job market. These courses are professionally designed for plug and play.”
