The Bettendorf charitable organization is committed to improving the lives of underprivileged children in Quad Cities communities, and welcomes donations from students, teachers, families, churches, businesses, and any other parties wishing to make a difference in the lives of local children.

As one of the most active charities in the area, the organization has already donated to numerous beneficiaries, including the Evening Optimist Club, St. Ambrose University, local high schools, QC United, as well as helping children and teenagers with student needs, electric bills, rent, food, and other necessities.

The inspiration behind Yah’s Dollar Project came in the fall of 2005, after owner and founder Jabari Woods talked to a group of underprivileged teens during a Life Skils project. The teens said that they felt nobody ever gave them anything, and that if they could, they would help others.

Jabari changed a $20 bill to $1 bills and gave each teen one dollar with the mission to spend it on somebody other than themselves.

According to Jabari, “word spread of this simple idea to individuals and businesses. In just a few short months the project raised enough funds to help families, students, and community members purchase food, clothes, help with medical expenses, student fees, light bills and the list goes on. Now that’s a miracle! We are currently serving Iowa but our goal is to reach out to needy communities far and wide.”
