Divine Discontentment: Finding Happiness, Satisfaction, and Contentment

Mar 2, 2017

In this episode of Awareness Addicts, we discuss what it means to be content. It’s not really black and white though, as we know. We never are really content or completely discontent. Certainly, we can be content in some areas and discontent in other areas simultaneously. What does it mean to be divinely discontent? The way the show’s host, Dr. Gala Gorma, uses the term “divine discontent” is to mean that there is awareness of the good in life and there’s a desire for more. Even in the areas of contentment, there’s always room for improvement. But, the trap is when we accept that we’re more or less content and that’s as good as it is going to get. Rather, life is constantly improving and expanding. That’s the way life should be. Life should be an adventure … as we constantly look for our next opportunity and the next way to grow, learn, and expand.

In the new episode of Awareness Addicts, the show’s host, Dr. Gala Gorman, asks listeners to consider contentment in their lives. What does it mean to be content or discontent? There’s always room for expansion and improvement.

In this episode, listeners will:

-Learn what it means to be divinely discontent

-Consider what’s missing in their lives that would result in more happiness

-Appreciate the good in their lives and think about how to grow, improve, and expand those positive aspects

Becoming aware of the good in one’s life is only the first step. As Gorman says, “What does it mean to be divinely discontent? It means being aware of the good in one’s life and wanting more. Certainly, in the areas that aren’t full of contentment, there is definitely room for improvement. But, the trap is to accept that level of contentment. It’s as good as it is going to get. Life is constantly improving and expanding. That’s the way it should be. Life should be an adventure ... constantly looking for the next opportunity and the next way to grow, learn, and expand.”

As Gorman points out, one of the ways that listeners can start to be open to those potential experiences is to allow themselves to dream of what they might be, do, or have if they knew they couldn’t fail. As they start exploring this concept, they’ll find that they’ll recall dreams that they may have had from childhood. A lot of times, those dreams were powerful because the same filters that adults have developed don't exist in children. Dreams from childhood were full of life. They bubbled out of inherent abilities and natural talents. There could be something there to go back to and add some fuel to … to see if there is still life in them to reignite.

This show was created to provide Sage Advice for taking inspired action. Awareness is the key. With this key, it’s easier to navigate in the human world with all of its detours. As awareness is developed, along with it comes an intimate understanding of self. And, that enhanced sense of awareness introduces some new information into the mix. With that new knowledge or outside the box experience, there is a spark that adds to life.

The show’s host, Dr. Gala Gorman, is a holistic life coach and minister. She is the author of the Spiritual Approach TM Series of books focused on practical spirituality. As an entrepreneur … mediator, publisher and, formerly, accounting firm partner, her experiences helped shape the creation of the show. As a change facilitator, she ignites transformation in businesses, families, students, clients and, especially, within herself.

When asked about why she created the show, Gorman said: “Developing awareness is what’s worked for me. In fact, I’m a bit of an Awareness Addict. And, I’m hoping listeners will become addicted too.”

Gorman has hopes that the show will save listeners from wasting time feeling confused and stuck. As fellow Awareness Addicts, she believes they’ll be alive, alert, awake and aware of life’s possibilities. As listeners practice what she talks about on the show to develop awareness, they’ll build muscles around their awareness skills. The idea is to close the gap so they can switch into awareness much more quickly … applying awareness and understanding before getting into something they regret.
