New changes are coming to Medicare in 2025, and Amelia Home Care are exploring the ways in which these changes could impact Brooklyn families.
The Inflation Reduction Act laid out a series of Medicare reforms when it was passed in 2022, establishing a 3-year timeline of changes in the interest of helping families impacted by rising medical costs. The last of those changes will be rolled out in the coming months, and Amelia Home Care is exploring ways to leverage those changes to provide additional relief to Brooklyn Families through their in-home care services.
The changes arriving in 2025 will cap prescription costs at $2000 for Medicare Part D recipients, and allow those without Part D coverage to establish a capped monthly payment plan without penalties. These changes may expand access to medications and treatments that families could not otherwise afford, particularly for families coping with disability and the financial burden it can pose.
As home care experts Amelia Home Care explain, they are anticipating a significant expansion to their medication management services will be necessary following these changes. Their program allows disabled pediatric patients to receive daily assistance in securing and administering medications. They offer pickup services for prescriptions and provide their management services as a part of their larger home care offerings.
They provide these services to children ages 3 to 18, primarily to those with developmental or physical disabilities—individuals who have historically been fully covered by Medicare Part D. Amelia Home Care also offers additional assistance to those interested in securing care for their child, providing guidance regarding what documentation is needed to garner the highest chance of approval.
“We also assist families in navigating the financial side of pediatric care, helping them understand insurance options,” a spokesperson explains, “Many parents find that home care is not only affordable but also the most effective way to meet their child’s medical and emotional needs.”
Recently collected statistics suggest that nearly half of all New York City residents are enrolled in a Medicare plan, underscoring the importance of programs such as those offered by Amelia Home Care. Their stated goal is to make home care services accessible to all who need them—something that these Medicare changes will make possible.
Beyond Amelia Home Care, though, medical providers and prescription distributors nationwide are gearing up for the implementation of these rules, even as the new administration promises further sweeping changes to healthcare programs at large.
AHC was founded by two women, Irena Bronstein, a mathematics tutor turned home care provider, and Lyubov Dolgopyat, a business administrator specializing in HIPAA compliance.
