Old times die hard, and some never fade away. The vintage hot rod Gassers of the 1950s are still alive today in the memories of drag racing and automotive fans. The Gassers may appear out of date, but they played a key role in inspiring the use of large, powerful engines and drawing in sponsors. To commemorate their contribution, Quarter Mile Addiction has launched a new premium Vintage Hot Rod Gasser drag racing T-shirt.

Gassers were classified as hot rods and owe their name to gasoline based engines, rather than methanol or nitromethane. The cars originate from the 1933 Willys coupes and pickups that were popular in their days, but were never built in large numbers. Apart from the Gassers, the drag strips also witnessed the Willys coupes made race ready with Roots supercharger engines and fuel injection with methanol or nitromethane.

Gassers competed from the late 1950s to early 1970s in the gasoline class, with races held almost every week across the US. Big names were announced for scheduled appearances, and the Gassers built up a popular fan following bordering on 'craze'. This resulted in the appearance of sponsors and engine component manufacturers, who would select their favorite teams to promote equipment. More and more powerful junkyard engines were seen in Gassers, until the class was eliminated by NHRA in 1972.

Old Gassers never die; they just go faster! Gassers can still be seen in nostalgia drag racing meets in the US. The special edition T-shirt features a 1957 Ford Hardtop that was converted into a Gasser. Available in small to 3XL sizes, the T-shirt carries soft signature cotton blend, is preshrunk and machine wash safe, and features rib-knit set-in collar and satin labeling.
