How to Stop Negative Thinking and Self-Sabotaging Behavior

In this episode of Awareness Addicts, the host discusses how to recognize the self-sabotage process before it gets some momentum going. And, even if sabotage happens, how can it be turned into something good?

In this episode of Awareness Addicts, the show’s host, Dr. Gala Gorman, discusses self-sabotage … how to avoid it and what to do when self-destructive behavior is evident.

In her words, “In this episode, we’re going to acquaint ourselves with that voice in our heads. Honestly, some of the things it says seem illogical … even irrational. It has tremendous power over us, though, if it is allowed to prattle on unchecked. If we give that voice much freedom, it can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. It doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, that voice can actually serve us. But we have to show it who’s boss.”

In this episode, listeners will:

- Learn to control that nagging voice in their heads    •Identify the situations most likely to cause self-sabotage in order to avoid them

•Engage in positive self-talk to eliminate the negative voice

So, as Gorman asks listeners, “How do we recognize this self-sabotage process before it gets some momentum going? How do you begin to cut its power off? First, you prepare in advance. It’s really important that we see how we do it and develop some awareness around it. As we start to see how we do it, then we might begin to question. But, when we haven’t practiced awareness, we don’t catch it quickly enough. The damage that’s done through this process of sabotaging ourselves is so great that it’s going to be a really big job to clean up the mess or dig ourselves out of the problems that we’ve created. As you can imagine, our work is to recognize this as it’s happening. With sabotage, we never quite know what the result is going to be. But, keep in mind that everything is always working out for us. Even if we sabotage ourselves, we can turn that into something good.”

This show was created to provide Sage Advice for taking inspired action. Awareness is the key. With this key, it’s easier to navigate in the human world with all of its detours. As awareness is developed, along with it comes an intimate understanding of self. And, that enhanced sense of awareness introduces some new information into the mix. With that new knowledge or outside the box experience, there is a spark that adds to life.

The show’s host, Dr. Gala Gorman, is a holistic life coach and minister. She is the author of the Spiritual Approach TM Series of books focused on practical spirituality. As an entrepreneur … mediator, publisher and, formerly, accounting firm partner, her experiences helped shape the creation of the show. As a change facilitator, she ignites transformation in businesses, families, students, clients and, especially, within herself.

When asked about why she created the show, Gorman said: “Developing awareness is what’s worked for me. In fact, I’m a bit of an Awareness Addict. And, I’m hoping listeners will become addicted too.”

Gorman has hopes that the show will save listeners from wasting time feeling confused and stuck. As fellow Awareness Addicts, she believes they’ll be alive, alert, awake and aware of life’s possibilities. As listeners practice what she talks about on the show to develop awareness, they’ll build muscles around their awareness skills. The idea is to close the gap so they can switch into awareness much more quickly … applying awareness and understanding before getting into something they regret.
